Supa Stik has achieved accreditation from the Green Stamp Program, which is an environmental initiative developed by the Printing Industries Association of Australia (WA) in conjunction with the Western Australian Department of Environment Regulation. The program assists businesses to incorporate processes and practices that avoid, reduce, reuse, recycle and dispose of their wastes in an environmentally sensitive manner.
As a Level 2 Green Stamp certified company, Supa Stik labels are going beyond legislative requirements to achieve good environmental practice standards.
In addition to this accreditation, Supa Stik also uses Waterless Offset printing for a large portion of labels. This is an offset lithographic printing process that eliminates the water or dampening system used in conventional offset printing.
There are significant benefits to the Environment with this process, the main ones being:
- Eliminates dampening-related volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the printing process. This revolutionary ink technology eliminates the need for solvent-based press and blanket wash solutions, which typically account for a large portion of a printer’s VOC output.
- Water Conservation – Waterless printers have recorded dramatic conservation of our water resources.
- Cleaner Environment, Better Health – Helps protect printers from exposure who otherwise inhale solvents all day long.
Another production platform we use at Supa Stik is Digital Printing. Put simply, Digital printing has less environmental impact as it produces much less waste. To read more about the environment and digital printing, click here.
Everyone at Supa Stik is very conscious of minimising our environmental impact. We were very proud to be the first roll-fed label printing company in Western Australia to have achieved the Green Stamp accreditation, and this will be our platform for continually developing our Environmental Systems and Processes moving forward.
